Our opening group stage game at the 2025 FIFA World Club Cup is coming up in just a few short days, Monday in Atlanta, with the Blues set to fly out to the United States on Friday.
But our official traveling squad has already been confirmed, with Chelsea announcing 28 names earlier today.
There aren’t too many surprises on the list, with reports yesterday making it pretty clear that while most of our new signings (so far) will travel, most of our returning loanees (young or old) will not.
And sure enough, Andrey Santos is technically the only returning loanee in the squad. Young goalkeeper Gaga Slonina is also there, though he had returned from his loan in January already (due to a hand injury). The four new arrivals all get a spot (Delap, Essugo, Sarr, Penders); Kendry Paez does not. Aaron Anselmino also joins but Mathis Amougou does not.
The 28-man squad, in full, is as follows:
GOALKEEPERS: Sanchez, Jorgensen, Penders, Slonina
DEFENDERS: Cucurella, Tosin, Badiashile, Colwill, Sarr, Chalobah, James, Gusto, Anselmino, Acheampong
MIDFIELDERS: Enzo, Essugo, Santos, Dewsbury-Hall, Caicedo, Lavia
FORWARDS: Neto, Delap, Palmer, Madueke, Jackson, Nkunku, George, Guiu
